Abigail (Abbie) was the last to be born and is the "runt" of the litter. Her mother, Gracie Gray, could not find enough to eat so she struggled to keep herself and her kittens alive. Lack of good nutrition caused Abbie to be smaller and weaker than the other 3 kittens. When she was born, her back legs were weak and she walked on her feet instead of her toes like a normal kitten. Abbie only weighted a half a pound when born. But Abbie, like her namesake Abigial Adams, had a strong will to survive and she watched her brother and sisters run and play and even climb. After a check-up at the Vet, we began Physical Therpy on Abigail and she was an excellent patient. She never complained when we put her on her back and exercised and massaged her legs ... in fact, she liked it! Each day she grew stronger. Finally the day arrived when she leaped from the bottom of the cage to the very top. Although still small, she is now up on her toes and keeping up with her siblings. She is a sweet and gentle kitten and loves attention. She purrs all the time. Abbie will always be smaller than her litter mates but she can now hold her own with the best of them. If you would like to meet Abigial, please contact her Foster Mom Betty at 757-508-5298.
